My New Book is Out!
My new book Demonic Pathworkings is out now in both paperback and on Kindle on Amazon.
Here’s the description I wrote for the back cover. “For hundreds of years the seventy two Demons of the Goetia and their four Cardinal Rulers have been the heart of the grimoire tradition of the West. From hand written Renaissance tomes to the new wave of digital how-to books of practical magick, occultists have returned to these particular spirits century after century because of their power, effectiveness, and safety. Time and time again, these demons have proven they are reliable and cooperative allies who offer not only material gain, but also deep transformative wisdom.
Demonic Pathworkings was written for regular people with busy lives who can’t devote all their time to learning complex magick. It offers a simple, yet effective, visionary method of working with spirits called pathworking. You do not need any experience as this ritual is perfect for beginners. All you need is to be able to visualize images in your mind just a little and you can perform this ritual in a matter of moments with no equipment such as altars, candles, swords, chalices, robes, or wands. This is true open-handed magick that uses your imagination as the threshold for contacting spirits.
Unlike similar modern grimoires, you will not find spirits presented as cosmic vending machines with their powers listed like a fast-food menu. The spirits are presented with reverence as intelligent living beings. Their powers and abilities are given with dignity as aspects of who these noble spirits are.
Demonic Pathworkings also treats the reader with respect and doesn’t just drop you in without or guidance. It includes the theory behind the magick as well as entire chapters that will teach you to communicate with spirits and build life-changing relationships with them. It teaches a practical form of inner alchemy that will empower you to dissolve inner beliefs that keep you from manifesting the results you want. It all comes together with practical strategies that if followed don’t just teach how to transform your life, but make that transformation inevitable.
Join mystic and occultist Jareth Tempest and the archangel Raziel as they reveal the hidden paths of power that begin in your imagination, wind through your unconscious, and will lead you into the underworld. Let Raziel guide you to the demons, powerful chthonic spirits who will claw away your illusions and strip away all your masks and reveal who you really are. But be not afraid because it will be done with love, with the intention of showing you just how powerful you really are. With their fire you will forge the life of your dreams.”
Foolish Fish was kind of enough to give it an honest review which you can watch here. (I’ve linked this to when he starts to talk about my book.)
I’m so happy this book is finally out. It was a nightmare to finish. Forgive me if I rant a little about how the whole project spiraled out of control.
The whole idea of this book was to do something that would be quick and easy to get out while getting me back into the practice of writing since it’s been so long. I already had the pathworkings, so all I had to do was write a little about demons and then repeat how to do the ritual. Well I wasn’t happy just doing another quick pathworking book where I explain the ritual and make a list of spirits with their powers. Rather I went in with the attitude of explaining each demon as a living entity, a noble being who is more than a list of powers. I’ve also been watching people struggle with things like communicating with spirits and building relationships with them. So I wrote long chapters about that. I also framed it all in my own ideas in how magick works and what demons really are so there’s a long theory section. Then I wanted to give practical advice so there’s a long section on how to actually work with demons to get what you want in practical ways.
And yeah, I used AI early on in the process. It actually pushed the book in directions I probably wouldn’t have gone. Because of it there’s a troubleshooting section and a section on staying balanced. I also used it to organize my thoughts and notes on the listings since doing 72 of anything takes forever. I’ve done three drafts by hand since, but I gave Foolish Fish an advanced copy and he said some of it still reads like AI. Honestly, it was an interesting experiment but I will not do it again. It didn’t end up saving me any time and will only leave me open to the haters saying it’s AI generated. So I kind of regret it, but on the other hand, it helped make it what it is, so it isn’t all bad. Just to be clear, I didn’t generate any of the concepts, theory, or magick. It’s all me. I’ve had the pathworkings since 2019. It did give me good feedback on new areas to cover in the more “how to” parts of the book and made the repetitive parts of the writing process like the descriptions for the demons easier. That part is mind numbing for me to do by hand. But as I said, the pathworkings are all mine, they’ve been around longer than AI, and the powers are all based on my long experience of working with these demons.
All of this to say it is over 500 pages. It was supposed to be something I could do quickly just to get back out there but it just grew and grew. It’s like an experiment that exploded beyond my control. My wife has been calling it my Frankenstein’s monster. It’s big and scary yet also so intimately mine that it is a little embarrassing. But I love it and I hope you all love it too. It really is a lot, but there is so much good stuff in there that I know will help people if they just give it a chance. Honestly, I was looking at it and I could make probably two separate courses out of the material in it. One on how to work with spirits and one on practical magick strategy. Actually three, because I cover practical inner alchemy in depth as well. I almost forgot about that part. It’s so intrinsic to my theory of how magick works I overlook it, but that was what the AI was good for, finding areas I assume people understand and telling me I should write more about that. I know some people will hate on the AI use just because of all the slop that’s been churned out, but it did make it a better book in the long run and while I will never have it write anything in future books, I have learned how to use it to make books better. So yeah, it’s like my wife said, “crazy Frankenstein’s monster experiment of a book gone totally off the rails, but also probably the most thorough book on practical magick I’ve ever seen.”
Oh, the cover won’t be AI. It’s me on Photoshop again, just like all the others.
I also hired someone to do the final formatting for me for the first time. This alone was the worst part. Finding anyone who would even work with a book about demons was hard enough. People wouldn’t return messages, I even got blocked. I finally found someone and he was not as professional as I had hoped. He said he knew how to format non-fiction books, but I ended up having to tell him how to do everything which is the reason I wanted to hire someone in the first place. I dreaded the idea of having to look up how books are supposed to be formatted and then going in and doing it all myself. But I ended up having to do most of that anyway while also paying someone. Just another aspect of this whole project going haywire.
But it’s out now! Yay! Finally! And I am so excited to see how people like it.
While it is specifically about demons, most of the theory and practical aspects apply to working with any type of spirit and even just any kind of magick, so I recommend it for anyone looking for practical advice on how to improve their practice. I may really create courses that cover these topics and expand on them for people who will never buy a book of demon magick, but as always with me, don’t hold your breath! I have been pretty much ready to start making courses, but had to get this crazy ass book off my plate before I could begin. It just keeps causing problems! But we are almost there.
It is going to be amazing to see what kind of life it has once I let it loose on the world. They really do have a life of their own once you set them free. You never know how people will react. I really expected The Filthy Grimoire to generate more controversy or conversation than it did, while never dreaming that Angels of Omnipotence would be so controversial.
And Angels of Omnipotence had the exact opposite creation process. It just flowed out in two weeks. I barely remember working on it at all. Mainly just the cover. And I got so sick afterwards. I’ve been working on this one for months, well technically since 2019, but I started again in... let me look at when the file was created... really?! In April! I thought it was in the summer. Damn.
Ok, I should wrap this up. I just had to vent about the process and apparently I had a lot to say! I am so happy it is out and it is off my plate. It has been eating up so much of my bandwidth for so long. Especially for something I started entirely because I thought it would be the easiest and the fastest. I mean, the pathworkings were done already. Historically that has been the time consuming part of writing a pathworking book. But I think the days of short menu magick books are over. I think people want more meat these days. I do at least. Sure make it simple but explain how you did it and how to make the most out of it. And treat any spirits with respect and not just cosmic vending machines. This is how I will be writing all my books in the future. So anyway, thanks for reading my rant and letting me vent about how frustrating this whole process has been. I hope I haven’t scared you away from the book! All of this has been because I want to make it as good as I can and provide you with everything you need to succeed. And you can always skip the parts you don’t need, jump right to the demon you want to work with get his pathworking and get to work. It’s out so it’s yours to do with as you please. I’m excited to see what you do!

I cannot wait to fully avail of it and complete/update the series in hand on kindle! AND actually upgrade/level up systems for ALL three books going back and compare/contrast the various GOM style approaches to the Goetia! What a deeper "open-handed" adventure that'll be! The cover is intriguing and unsettling! Seems to evoke caution and abandon at the same time! 📚 📖 🌌 ⚫️ 🧭 🗺📍📜 😈
